A visit home is always so good for my soul. My parents recently moved to a house in the country, about 25 minutes outside of Lexington where I grew up. And though their house is new to our family, it already feels like home. Waking up to beautiful sunrises over green pastures filled with horses, and tall green trees feels like home. Kentucky, at her best.
Our days were filled with backyard playing, mule driving, cousin visiting, grill outs, back porch pool time, and many peaceful moments with family watching the sun rise and set over the horizon.
I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to get out my “big” camera to shoot our life as it happens, and I’m already loving the results.
On another note, tell me those aren’t the most adorable blue eyes on my little nephew? I’m smitten.
Mule-driving is another favorite activity on the land. For you city-folk, this is a “mule”. It is not a live animal in this case, but in fact a rugged, farm-use vehicle something like a golf cart.
These visits full of family, food and laughter always feel a little too short, and alas my heart is still so happy to have them. Until next time, Kentucky!
